The rail operations around the metro area of Perth in late 1979-1980 belonged to the W.A. Government Railways who traded as
MA1862 one of the Forrestfield hump yard shunters finds itself shunting a superphosphate train at Bassendean on 22 March 1980. The MA later hauled the 64 wagons in length train back to Forrestfield. Locomotives were in short supply at this time.

The K class were not liked by many railfans on the "IP" and hoped for the reintroduction of the former "Commonwealth Railways" locos. This occurred a few years later with the CLP class. Today we would all be out chasing a K on the "IP".
